The Vicarious Surgical robot utilizes a single port requiring a 1.5 cm incision — smaller than the size of a dime — for the insertion of the camera and two robotic instruments, transporting surgeons to a new world of visibility and maneuverability.

Vicarious Surgical System is capable of incision sizes as low as 1.2 cm. Current disposables require a 1.8 cm incision. Vicarious is developing and expects to launch disposables requiring a 1.5 cm incision.

The Vicarious Surgical robot design intends to maximize visualization, precision, and control of instruments in robotic-assisted minimally invasive surgery. It’s almost as if the surgeon is transported into the patient’s body.

With immersive 3D visualization, Vicarious Surgical provides advanced stereoscopic imaging of the patient anatomy and full responsiveness to the surgeon’s movements.

The Vicarious Surgical Robot is being designed for all robotic motion to happen inside the patient through a single 1.5 cm incision. This design means more freedom of movement and less risk of external collisions around the surgical field.

Mobile and Nimble.

Created with medical facilities and staff in mind, the surgical robot is being designed for set up, break down, mobility, and storage — addressing care team needs and expectations from next generation robotics.

The Patient Cart

This part of the system connects with the patient. Its novel design facilitates the robot entering the body through a single incision while the surgeon maintains control of the instrument arms.

The Surgeon Console

This is where the surgeon sits to drive the robotic instruments and enhanced 3D high-definition camera inside the patient. Using our advanced proprietary software and hand controllers, the surgeon maintains control of the instruments and camera at all times.
