Product development began with the observation that in many hospital applications, traditional three-way valves and stopcock manifolds can lead to confusing situations at the bedside. Our answer to this is the BOS system. It is based on a valve that works like a conventional three-way valve, but offers several practical advantages due to the innovative valve adjustment mechanism.

Products Details

As a second module, the system includes an innovative tube system that provides additional advantages:

  • Linearity: The tubes all run in the same direction because the BOS valve has no transverse connectors. As a result, the tubes can be bundled together more easily and are less prone to twisting.
  • Modularity: The individual valves can be joined together to form complete stopcock manifolds and individual valve/tube combinations.
  • Safety: Rather than protruding stopcocks, the BOS valve has bezels (similar to the adjustment ring on a wristwatch). This means that users and/or patients no longer get caught on the valve and, above all, can no longer accidentally change the valve position.
  • Clarity: The system’s linearity as well as the colored markings mean that you can tell at a glance which flow paths are open. The locking function of the bezel ensures that the selected positions are always precisely fixed.

Based on process know-how from over forty years of industrial pipe and profile extrusion, we are able to develop innovative products for medical technology applications and realize the ideas and visions of our medical technology customers. To meet typical application requirements, Röchling Medical processes standard materials such as PP, PE and PC as well as high-quality, biocompatible plastics such as polyamide 12, TPU and TPE-A in Waldachtal. Individual adjustments of color and hardness, solutions optimized for sliding friction, printing (inline) and laser cutting (offline) are also possible.

In addition, Röchling also produces fiber-reinforced tubes in its clean room in Waldachtal. We can thus create solutions that meet high requirements in terms of torsional stiffness, compressive strength and low linear expansion. Typical areas of application are endoscopy, catheters and breathing tubes. As reinforcing materials (braidings), we use plastic-based monofilaments, e.g. made of polyester, as well as metal wires.
