Our own design of a purely mechanical UNILateral Exoskeleton for Assisted walking (UNILEXA), made for people with total or partial loss of lower limb function, especially paraplegics, is the result of many years of research and development in the field of biomechanics and biorobotics.
USER-FRIENDLY SOLUTION
The term unilateral refers to a one-sided attachment of the device to the lower limbs and the medial support determines the position from the inside of the limbs. Such a setting assures optimal usability and reduces the risk of edema, skin problems and other complications associated with the use of bilateral orthoses . In addition, the medial design enables easy don/doff of the device directly from a wheelchair.
UNIVERSAL DESIGN
The PRIME version is intended for use in medical centers and hospitals. The device consists of interchangeable and adjustable parts which enables a customized fit for each patient based on their anthropometry. By adjusting the height of the device and the mutual position of the orthotic joints to the corresponding anatomical landmarks, each patient can be optimally equipped to achieve better performance and reach their full potential. Adjustable and replaceable orthotic sleeves allow for a superior fit to the user's body resulting in greater comfort. Although UNILEXA Prime won't be as tailored as the custom-made Home version, its features make it reliable and comfortable to ensure a positive user experience.
STABLE WALKING WITH LOW ENERGY CONSUMPTION
Due to its sophisticated patented construction and unique joint interconnection system, UNILEXA ensures a more stable and efficient walking gait requiring less energy consumption in comparison with other mechanical orthoses and exoskeletons.
MODULARITY
The exoskeleton itself is a modular system with two newly developed ankle joints and one medial hip joint, which are connected to create one functional unit. Particular joints can be easily changed and, if necessary, serviced during inspection.
