- Model 1.5T - Breast MRI System

0

The Aurora® 1.5T Dedicated Breast MRI System is designed specifically for breast imaging. Unlike whole-body MRI systems, which require after-market modifications to image the breast, the Aurora 1.5T Dedicated Breast MRI is designed from the inside out, specifically for breast anatomy. Every functional component of our system, from the patient bed, to the proprietary CAD system, to the integrated biopsy capability, is created solely for breast MRI. As specialists in this diagnostic category, we have dedicated ourselves and our system to breast MRI. The result is a diagnostic resource offering superior image quality and performance—truly dedicated and truly integrated. To fully understand the advantages of the Aurora Breast MRI System, it’s important to first understand each individual component, and how they work in concert to deliver a truly comprehensive and seamlessly integrated breast MRI solution for your practice.

Components of the Aurora Breast MRI System

Aurora Optimized Shim
Our proprietary shimming process recognizes differences in breast anatomy and adjusts the magnetic field homogeneity accordingly, resulting in customized breast imaging for each individual patient. This complex, second-order shim was developed specifically for breast imaging. It facilitates high-quality fat suppression for both breasts and axillae, and helps reduce hot spots.
Aurora Optimized Shim provides:

  • optimal high-quality fat suppression for both breasts
  • improved efficiency of data acquisition
  • a greater reduction in hot spots
  • a better visualization of the axillae in the same acquisition as bilateral breast studies
  • a large, homogeneous, elliptical imaging area

Unique RF Coils
The Aurora proprietary transmit-and-receive RF coils are built into patient exam table to provide uniformity across the entire image. T design allows a homogeneous signal for a large volume-reducing h and cold spots which can be seen with whole body systems. With the Aurora System, the result is a more homogeneous fat suppression and a reduction in artifacts. Aurora's unique RF coils offer full coverage of both breasts, chest wall and axillae in a single bilateral scan without compromise in contrast resolution. The homogeneous: coverage of the Aurora Breast MRI magnet is 36 X 44cm, allowing I true 3-D bilateral fat-suppressed imaging.

Rotating Delivery of Excitation Off Resonance-RODEO®
Many factors can affect the quality of a breast MRI image. Adequate fat suppression and ductal tissue suppression are both essential for detecting the full spectrum of enhancing lesions. The acclaimed Rotating Delivery of Excitation Off Resonance (RODEO) proprietary pulse sequence is designed for selective water excitation. Fat is not excited, resulting in fewer artifacts. Compared with other water excitation methods, RODEO is more efficient and produces cleaner images and fewer artifacts. Motion artifacts, especially cardiac and respiratory motion are reduced using RODEO versus conventional scanners. RODEO has built-in fibro glandular tissue suppression for better imaging of dense breasts.

AuroraCAD
Streamlined and easy-to-use AuroraCAD is specifically designed for each step in the imaging process—from image acquisition through computer-aided detection. AuroraCAD, with 3-D registration, helps to compensate for patient motion between data acquisitions, including offsets, rotations and warping of tissue. This contributes to extremely accurate orthogonal and oblique views of lesions for Multi-Planar Reformation (MPR), Maximum Intensity Projections (MIP) and surface-rendering views. AuroraCAD color maps not only display dynamic enhancement curves (washout, plateau, or persistent), but also use the image acquisition information to display edema and fluid (cysts, seromas) on any sequence.

The AuroraCAD software facilitates diagnosis by presenting simultaneous axial, sagittal and coronal views of any acquisition or post-processed image set using multi-planar reconstruction.

The AuroraCAD allows for side-by-side comparison of pre-and post-contrast images, subtractions, 3-D projection images, enhancement curves and more. The AuroraCAD provides the ultimate efficiency for the physician and the technologist by improving workflow and maximizing patient throughput. The AuroraCAD is DICOMcompatible.

Aurora Biopsy Targeting
Now, there's no need to perform manual calculations and count grid squares to determine needle placement. Aurora BIOPSY'' is the first and only digitally encoded targeting device and fully integrated MRI-guided biopsy software technology available on the market. Just click on the lesion, click on the marker and the integrated software system provides coordinates for precise needle placement - ready for the biopsy procedure, both medial and lateral approaches.

With a patient sled providing the largest access area to the breast, the AuroraBlOPSY technology provides the breast specialist with a fast and accurate interventional solution. Additionally, AuroraBlOPSY allows the specialist to target multiple lesions in the same breast or both breasts in a single procedure.

Able to accommodate needle localizations, core biopsy and vacuum-assisted biopsy devices, AuroraBlOPSY also provides proprietary breast stabilization paddles allowing for a truly custom fit per patient.

Exclusive rotating needle guides allow the physician to avoid possible grid obstructions as well as scars and moles without changing the targeted position.

Precision Gradients
The Aurora System offers gradients which have been specification; designed for breast imaging. The exclusive design of Aurora's gradients allows for optimal breast imaging using a SPIRAL acquisition technique. Aurora's uniquely designed precision g have a distortion of less than 1mm over 44cm - an achievement unmatched by other breast MRI systems which can range from.

Table Design
Our patient table has a flared design and is contoured for a woman's body. Patients lie prone, with arms forward and down for comfort and enter the magnet feet first, minimizing claustrophobia. Ensuring patient comfort reduces the risk of patient movement during the exam, thus reducing motion artifacts. The wide, 66cm gantry comfortably accommodates patients that weigh up to 450 lbs..

Exceptional Image Acquisition Technologies: AuroraEDGE™ and SPIRAL Breast ImagingAuroraEDGE
The new AuroraEDGE technology radically improves image resolution and eliminates common breast MRI artifacts for crystal clear images of both breasts, axillae, chest wall and mediastinum in a single, 3-D bilateral scan.

The unique pulse sequence and image acquisition system used in AuroraEDGE technology minimizes the effect of common cardiac motion on the images. The new acquisition efficiency of AuroraEDGE is used to oversample for a larger field-of-view to avoid aliasing.

AuroraEDGE Image Specifications:

  • 3-D Image Resolution 512x512, 250 slices
  • 0.7 mm slice thickness, no gap between slices
  • Offers isotropic true 0.7mm resolution in all 3 planes
  • Post-contrast time points obtained at 90-seconds, 4.5-minutes, 7.5-minutes, and 10.5-minutes.

3-D Bilateral Spiral Breast Imaging
By offering Spiral breast imaging technology, Aurora became the first manufacturer to commercialize this advanced image acquisition technology for breast anatomy. Now, you no longer have to choose between higher image quality (contrast resolution) and temporal resolution – Spiral gives you both. Spiral breast imaging provides dramatically increased resolution along with a significant decrease in scan time for improved dynamics. This innovation is achieved while still maintaining all the contrast advantages proven with RODEO® technology – outstanding suppression of fat and normal ductal tissue. Spiral breast imaging significantly improves spatial and temporal resolution because it is extremely efficient in acquiring data for image reconstruction, which results in a significant boost in signal-to-noise ratio (SNR).

A spiral trajectory through reconstruction space acquires image data beginning at the center and spiraling to the periphery continuously through the readout. Much more of reconstruction space is covered, and the better acquisition efficiency leads to improved resolution. Since the center of reconstruction space accounts for most of the image contrast, the oversampling of the center of reconstruction space also results in improved image contrast.

ThinClient
ThinClient provides radiologists with the ability to access patient images at any time, anywhere. All the functionalities of AuroraCAD are accessible, while allowing multiple users the ability to review images remotely on the ThinClient server.
