CurvaFix, Inc.
At CurvaFix, we are a dedicated group of health professionals, committed to improving patients’ quality of life with leading-edge treatment technologies. The CurvaFix IM Implant is the only intramedullary implantable device capable of following the natural bone curvature within the pelvis. It is flexible during implantation to reach challenging pelvic fractures, and is locked in a rigid state once in place. Our company began with the inspiration that there must be a better way to repair fractures of the curved bones of the pelvis than existing straight screws that can’t follow a curve, or bone plates that require invasive surgery. Dr. Robert Meek, an Orthopedic Surgeon since 1974 and former Founder and Head Division of Ortho Trauma Vancouver General Hospital & University of British Columbia (Canada) pursued his vision for a curved implant by initiating a research project.

Welcome
CurvaFix: The only intramedullary implant that follows the natural curvature of the pelvis.
Every year, there are more than 165,000 pelvic fractures in the U.S.1 Traditional treatment for these serious injuries using straight screws and bone plates has inherent limitations.
The longer, wider CurvaFix implant fills curved bone canals, providing a greater force-to-failure while eliminating the risk of pullout. The procedure can be completed in as little as 20 minutes and is intended to yield strong, stable fixation—helping reduce pain and increasing the likelihood of a faster, more successful recovery for patients.
About Us
In partnership with Dr. Robin Coope, PhD, and Robin’s team at Genome Science Centre at BC Cancer, the project focused on minimally invasive curved internal fixation.
A Seattle-based venture capital (VC) firm, now called Allied Inventors, sponsored some of the early research. Later, the VC brought in Steve Dimmer to lead an evaluation of the market opportunity, technology development milestones, intellectual property, and commercialization pathway for the research project. Mr. Dimmer, a seasoned med-tec entrepreneur, and now CurvaFix’s CEO, completed the evaluation and realized the clear, unmet need for curved bone fixation. He then took on the project, built an experienced team and later founded CurvaFix, Inc. to bring Dr. Meek’s innovation from concept to commercialization.
